This book is ridiculous. The only ones getting rich are the people selling these brainwashing books! You can’t “THINK YOURSELF RICH.” Take the red pill already.
If you are getting this book because it’s plugged a million times by everyone involved in ‘The Secret’ DON’T DO IT. I did and I pushed myself through the first 2 chapters and eventually gave up. It’s boring and honestly it sounds like a bunch of BS. If you understand ‘The Secret’ than you don’t need anything else. My advise would be to work on applying the ‘rules’ of ‘The Secret’ to your daily life and be happy at everything you do. Peace & Love
I don’t know what to say other than what my title says. I bought this with the last $10 on a gift card in a Borders Express store in mall because I always heard this was a classic and there was nothing else really to buy (and Borders is always way overpriced compared to Amazon). I am generally into business and self-improvement books.
I find the concept that I can “transmute” my thoughts into riches hard to swallow and the book is entirely too metaphysical for me. Yes, it’s basically an extension or maybe an original seed of “THE SECRET” cult.
I didn’t want to give it a horrible rating because I did find the section on what leads to failure interesting and informative and I do think there IS some value on just operating from a standpoint of just assuming you are going to be rich, or you are going to be a partner with Thomas Edison. I am all for visualization also.
I guess I am just more oriented towards Stephen Covey on character-based success rather than “positive-thinking-turn-that-frown-upside-down” success. If you need any evidence that I am right, flip on American Idol. A lot of those try-outs actually think they are good and going to be the next American Idol. They believe with every soul of their being they can belt out a tune like Carrie Underwood. Yet, most of them do not become an American Idol. So much for “positive thought transmuting into riches and glory.” I also question the author capitalizing on the Deadly Sin of Greed in such a way to convince people that they have “metaphysical ability” to transmute thoughts into riches. So. . .there is an ethical mismatch there for me. I also don’t care for the implication Napolean Hill makes of “Well, if you don’t really beleive it, or you don’t try hard enough, then that’s your fault.” It’s too convenient. Like a starving person in a 3rd world country should be able to transmute his thoughts of riches into some loaves of bread and it’s all their fault they are in the predicament they are in – they attracted hunger, disease and poverty into their life.
Um. . .bullpucky? Maybe Napolean Hill should have taken some time away from the Carnegie’s of the world and toured some slums and realized that there is often no good reason why people are where they are.
All in all, I am struggling even to finish it and will donate it to a library when done, which is how I recommend reading this book if you are truly interested in the content. I am probably being generous with giving 2 stars.
Fix your way of thinking and how and why… all in here! You cannot loose! If you think you can… why couldnt you? Adjust your attitude and outlook on things from a clinical point of view and a lamen joe point of view!
This is unquestionably one of the very best books on the subject. To get the most from this book you must have a mind capable of refined discernment. Rather than handing you answers on a silver platter, Mr. Hill makes you “Think” about the principles revealed such that you will come to understand and internalize them on your own terms.
The messages are extremely powerful, if veiled, and their strict application MUST invariably lead you towards the fulfillment of whatever aims you focus its philosophy towards.
